Love
My son was sitting in front of me a few minutes ago and I was looking at his hair curling around the base of his camo sweatshirt, wondering at how it is possible to love someone else so completely, so fully, so deeply. It kind of made my stomach lurch and turn a bit. You know you are capable of love, but until I had a child who belonged to me so unconditionally, I don't think I really understood loving someone with your whole being.

Toy Cabinet
This summer I was looking for a cabinet to store all of our toys. I'm sure like most moms, I feel quite overwhelmed by all the toys, EVERYWHERE! My sister and I love to go the this fun outdoor market the first Saturday of the month throughout the summer. I looked and looked for a cabinet that would work and finally stumbled across this cabinet.
I did not take a before picture because I was so anxious to get to the project. The cabinet was highlighter yellow. I thought maybe it would be okay, but as soon as we got it in the house I knew it had to be painted. I painted it with a white enamel that we already had and then covered the doors with a couple of cute fabrics that were in my stash. I have a circle thing going on in the living room, so the circle fabric on the front worked out pretty well. The inside is a black and white gingham, which is hard to see from the photos.
The cabinet is working out well, the kiddo knows he can pull whatever he wants out of there, and we are working on the clean up part:)

Saggy Baggy Bag
My sister loves the book "Saggy Baggy Elephant." I am obsessed with looking at fabric online and happened across this Saggy Baggy Elephant fabric. I couldn't NOT buy it. I bought it from Karamat Fabrics on Etsy.http://www.etsy.com/shop/Karamat.
I made a simple tote bag. I used a super stiff interfacing so that it would stand up on its own. I really just intended for it to be something fun to have in her house or to take with us to the Paris Street Market in the summer (one of our favorite activities to do together). I didn't put any pockets in it or anything fancy, but she has been carrying it around with her all over. I'm just glad she was surprised and happy.

Redesign
I had some pictures in my kiddos room of superheros, but one day during a tantrum he ripped them off the wall. Then it was a blank wall for a long time which was driving me crazy.
He is really into numbers lately, so I made these fun pictures. I printed off the numbers in color and cut them out. Then I mounted them to some boyish scrapbook paper. I bought some inexpensive frames at Hobby Lobby and put the pics in. I thought they turned out pretty cute and the kiddo loved them! He "helped" me hang them. Yea for me!

The Horses that Inspired the Blog
These are my horses that inspire the blog name with my kiddo who couldn't love them more as you can tell by the first few pictures. The one directly above with the cherries is his FAVORITE and he calls it apple. I have tried to divert him a little from it since it isn't the most masculine, but he is insistent that Apple is his horse and there is no getting around it. Oh well, a little femininity never hurt anyone.
I have finally posted a few of the horses on etsy, no sales yet, but hopefully someone will like them .http://www.etsy.com/people/patchworkponies
I have more horses and other projects to add soon.

Turning Wishes into Reality
I stop myself a lot from going the full distance because I am afraid to put myself out there. I guess I've decided, what it the worst that can happen? The amazing blogs I have seen of woman creating and doing and shouting it to the world have really inspired me along with a good friend who is an amazing quilter and shares the same passion for fabric that I do. We have long talks about all the things we WISH we could do and be, ways that we wish our lives were different or better.
So, I have finally decided that it is time to turn my wishes into reality.
